Therapists for college students near New York University
Meagan Bamberger, LCSW
I work with people navigating a season of change, whether through grief, identity exploration, burnout, or relationship transitions, and they are seeking a space where they don’t have to carry it all alone. They may be feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or uncertain about the future, but they also have a deep desire to heal, grow, and reconnect with themselves. Many of the people I work with are highly introspective and care deeply about others, but struggle to extend that same compassion to themselves. They want to feel seen, validated, and supported as a whole person with layered experiences. I specialize in working with people moving through grief, life transitions, and identity-related challenges. I offer a queer-affirming and trauma-informed space where clients can show up as they are. My approach to therapy is relational, compassionate, and grounded in deep listening. If you're feeling the weight of grief, burnout, identity shifts, or emotional disconnection, you don't have to face it alone. Healing isn’t linear, and it doesn’t happen overnight, but it does happen when you feel safe, understood, and empowered. Therapy is a powerful act of selfcare and trust, and I'd be honored to be part of that journey with you.

Its Conceivable Therapy
I am so glad you're here. You just took the hardest step, so take a second for a self-hug. I believe therapy is one of the most rewarding things you can offer yourself, so congratulations. We are all on our own journey, have our own individual needs, and a history that makes us who we are. In turn, I work with every person, meet them where they are at, support & guide them, through a treatment plan we build together, to help them with their day to day challenges, and long term goals. Therapy is a beautiful tool that, if used correctly, can be life changing. I enjoy nothing more than guiding people in finding their way & themselves. I pull much of my practice from life experiences. I am an honest, authentic New Yorker who is empathetic, yet direct. For decades I have worked with young adults (high school into college) navigating the intricacies of relationships, self love, identity searching and beyond. Life can be hard. We can be even harder on ourselves. It is easy to get overwhelmed, lost, confused - but we do not need to be on this journey alone. I'm a therapist, or a friend - whatever you need in the moment. Some people are anxious about entering therapy, but my approach is: what a gift to have someone in your corner who is simply there to support you.

If you find that you are struggling with negative thoughts, anxiety keeping you stuck in one place, trauma that you don't know how to deal with---this is a good first step. An important part of successful therapy is feeling connected with your therapist. I'll first work with you on building that connection by listening and trying to understanding your feelings and experiences. We will also work collaboratively to understand patterns in your relationships and past experiences that help shape your current situation and behaviors. Coming to a better understanding of yourself, your feelings and behaviors is the first order of change. I also specialize in working with children, adolescents and families. With a Master's in School Psychology, I collaborate well with school professionals to support your child more comprehensively. I also provide parenting support to address challenging behaviors at home. I make sure the therapeutic process is collaborative. By helping you build upon strengths and understand challenges, you can start having a greater awareness of your thoughts, feelings and behaviors and incorporate healthier coping strategies and attain professional, academic, and interpersonal goals. To work on this together, contact me for a free phone consultation.

My therapeutic approach is catered for each client. For those with anxiety disorders, I use evidence-based approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and exposure and response prevention (ERP) to help my clients learn about the intersections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Much of therapy includes learning and trying out new ways of thinking, utilizing coping skills that emphasize regulating your nervous system, and safely exposing yourself to anxiety-provoking things in order to overcome your fears. For clients who have experienced trauma and interpersonal/relational challenges, I use trauma-focused CBT and psychodynamic therapy with an attachment lens. I aim to support my clients in processing their experiences, reclaiming their narratives, and connecting to their values. I want to help my clients gain insight on root causes of distress, while also helping them explore how to engage in interpersonal relationships in healthier ways. My style is warm and collaborative. In session, I try to balance insight-oriented and skills-based approaches. I am active in teaching and helping clients develop new, healthy coping skills, in order to deal with stress better. I integrate feminist and multicultural approaches, and strive to help explore the impacts of oppression, privilege, and societal expectations, on mental health.
