Authentically Living Psychological Services
Many of the students I work with are used to pushing through, even when they're overwhelmed. They may be questioning their career path, struggling with perfectionism, procrastination, people pleasing, or feeling like they're falling behind while everyone else seems to have life figured out. Others are navigating ADHD, anxiety, grief, relationship challenges, identity exploration, or family stress. As a college professor and psychologist, I understand the unique pressures students face and help them better understand the patterns that keep them stuck, build confidence in their decisions, and develop a stronger sense of who they are both in and outside of the classroom.
Joey Kaufman
Joey has been working as a psychotherapist since 2010. His clients are individuals, couples, and teens with their own unique set of challenges. Joey's approach is collaborative, client focused, and goals oriented. He is a hands on therapist who is compassionate and non-judgmental, while at the same time, discourages clients from making excuses and being dishonest with themselves. Joey is also a certified trauma professional and helps his clients to take control of the aftermath of disturbing experiences.
Andrea Aware, LCSW
I am a psychotherapist with several years of experience helping young people from diverse backgrounds develop the tools they need to move toward their personal and wellness goals. Whether you are navigating a major life transition, struggling with confidence, working through challenging family dynamics, experiencing relationship difficulties, or processing past experiences, my goal is to help you make sense of these challenges and reconnect with the inner strengths you already carry. Together we can build clarity, strengthen self-trust, and develop practical tools to help you move forward with confidence. My approach to therapy is collaborative, curious, holistic, and empowering. I draw from evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy, tailoring each session to your individual needs and goals. In our work together, we will explore your concerns within the broader context of your life experiences, relationships, and environment. From there, we will develop a thoughtful and realistic path toward the changes you want to make. If this resonates with you, I’d be happy to connect and begin this process together!

I believe that therapy is a space to tell your unique story, where your lived experience will be received, honored, and validated without judgment. By diving into that story together, I can help guide you in understanding yourself and charting a course for future growth. As we walk this path together, we will work toward self-acceptance, empowerment, and joy. I support clients through a variety of challenges, such as exploring identity, navigating transitions, strengthening relationships, processing trauma, and coping with stress. As a queer, gender non-binary therapist, I am particularly passionate about providing sexuality- and gender-affirming therapy to queer and trans clients of all ages. I prioritize queer joy and gender euphoria in the therapeutic space, and strive to create a safe haven for clients to explore their identities beyond heteronormative sexuality and binary gender. My therapeutic approach is tailored to the individual client, and incorporates a variety of techniques and approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and anti-oppressive practice. My therapeutic style is goal-oriented and client-centered, and I prioritize collaboratively constructing a set of goals to bring intentionality to my work with clients. I strive to bring warmth, empathy, and patience to my work, and I encourage clients to identify and leverage their unique strengths and capabilities. My practice is informed by queer theory and critical race theory, and I strive to help clients explore how their lives have been influenced by social structures of oppression and inequality. In my free time, I love spending quality time with family and friends and finding new favorite spots to eat in my neighborhood. On the weekends, you can find me exploring Astoria Park and fawning over every dog I meet.

Shicheng "Ethan" Weng
I have a particular interest and experience in working with OCD and generalized anxiety-related concerns. I'm interested in how factors that include intrusive thoughts, avoidance patterns, excessive responsibility, and chronic worry can gradually restrict a person's functioning and quality of life. I've also worked with a lot of immigrant populations, particularly Chinese and Chinese-American clients who are going through anxiety, depression, and other interpersonal or adjustment concerns. In treatment, I focus on helping patients better understand the emotional and cognitive processes underlying their anxiety while gradually building tolerance toward uncertainty, discomfort, and feared experiences through insight-oriented and behavioral approaches, including exposure therapy. My passion for my work is simple: I want to be of help. I believe many people struggle not only because of symptoms themselves, but because they feel misunderstood, isolated, or ashamed of their experiences. I want to help patients make sense of their emotional patterns in a way that feels compassionate, not pathologizing.

Therapy can profoundly impact your life, leading to fulfillment, rewarding experiences, and the realization of your goals. I create a safe space for you to explore your emotions, challenges, and self-discovery. I am easy-going, laid-back, and supportive, always attuned to your needs. Outside of therapy, I enjoy playing guitar and spending time outdoors, bringing a relaxed and open vibe into our sessions. Investing in yourself can bring about positive changes you never imagined. Starting therapy might be the best decision you make today, this week, or this year. It can propel you forward towards a more fulfilling and meaningful life. I enjoy working with clients who are eager to improve areas in their lives related to self-esteem, relationships, intimacy, sexuality, trauma, and career satisfaction. Together we will increase your self-acceptance, authenticity, and connectedness with others; you will develop skills to reduce feelings of shame, anxiety, and hopelessness. My warm, open-minded, and non-judgmental style cultivates a process that is both inviting and challenging. We'll explore and confront the cognitive and behavioral blocks in your daily life, as well as past events that are still holding you back. Because no two individuals are the same, our treatment plan will be tailored to reflect your goals. In addition to being a psychotherapist, I have been a full-time professor at New York University for the past 20 years. I specialize in counseling clients in the entertainment industry, creatives in related fields, college students, and the LGBTQ community. Email me for a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation to see if we would be a good fit.

Welcome to your therapy journey, or welcome back! Now that you’re here, what do you discuss? How do you begin that conversation about mental health and wellness? As your therapist, I will immerse you in the therapy experience and provide a safe space for you to talk about yourself and what you’re looking for. In my work, I am a queer-affirming therapist who takes a relational approach to therapy, where I encourage you to explore your past relationships and reflect upon how they may have impacted you now. I treat anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, ADHD, life transitions, and negative self-esteem, and work with a diverse range of clients like college students, adults, and individuals in BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ communities. I have experience working in various clinical settings and previously worked at LaGuardia Community College's Wellness Center where I learned how to navigate a college counseling environment while providing care for hard-working students experiencing academic-related concerns. Outside of therapy, I am an artist, a social justice advocate, and an animal lover. If you are interested in booking with me, please schedule an appointment through Greenpoint Psychotherapy’s website. If you are a provider, feel free to email me or send a referral and I will respond accordingly.
Doriel Jacov, JD, LCSW
I’m a licensed psychotherapist (LCSW) and former corporate attorney, now based in New York City. I work with students, young professionals, and emerging leaders who often feel capable and accomplished on the outside but unsettled or stuck internally. I provide depth-oriented, relational therapy, helping clients explore patterns in relationships, identity, and emotional life. My work is informed by attachment, parts-based approaches (IFS), and somatic awareness, with extensive experience supporting trauma survivors. In our work together, I aim to create a reflective, safe space where you can explore what’s really behind the surface of your experiences, without manuals, homework, or pressure. I pay close attention to the relational dynamics between us, while giving you room to wander and discover. I work with adults, couples, and emerging adults, and I also facilitate two small support groups: one for male survivors of childhood sexual abuse and one for new therapists navigating their early clinical work.
New York State of Mind Psychotherapy & Wellness/ NYSOM
We have extensive experience working with young adults and college students, with a focus on anxiety, trauma and PTSD, relationship issues, and the life transitions and adjustment challenges that come with the college years — including career planning and decision-making around majors and future paths. As founder and clinical director, I bring direct experience with this population from my time at the NYU Student Health Center, where I provided psychotherapy and crisis assessment to college students, and I currently work with students from Columbia in private practice as well. I look for that same population experience when I bring clinicians onto the team, so it runs through the practice rather than being one person's specialty. Our team is trained in CBT, DBT, ERP, ACT, and psychodynamic approaches, with treatment that's short-term and goal-directed. We accept a wide range of insurance plans, including Aetna and Cigna, and are currently accepting new clients.

Her experience working with adults from diverse backgrounds and age groups in community-based and outpatient settings informs her culturally sensitive approach to treatment. Her philosophy is that therapy is a collaborative place for finding support in healing, developing self-awareness and working towards your goals. She utilizes an eclectic approach drawing from psychodynamic, person-centered, and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). Alignment Mental Health Counseling
Looking for a therapist is a massive act of self care and I am glad you're here! I have been practicing as a therapist since 2019, and my goal is to help people live their lives in the way that suits them best. Everyone can benefit from therapy and there is no one reason to go to counseling. Every goal is valid. Life can be challenging, especially with all of the demands of college. I see therapy as a cathartic and positive outlet to allow a person to seek meaning, find support and feel validated. My clinical focus is on relationships, anxiety, adjustment and burnout. My therapy approach is conversational and collaborative, and always with the baseline that you are the expert in your life. I look forward to connecting with you!
Kaitlyn Schlick
Many of my clients are young adults, college students, graduate students, and working professionals who appear successful on the outside but feel overwhelmed on the inside. They may be struggling with anxiety, depression, chronic stress, burnout, low motivation, self-doubt, or difficulty navigating life transitions. Together, we identify the patterns keeping them stuck, build practical coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change. My approach is collaborative, supportive, and goal-oriented, helping clients develop greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, and confidence in themselves and their future. I specialize in anxiety, depression, stress management, motivation, and self-esteem. Drawing from DBT, mindfulness-based practices, and Adlerian therapy, I help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing practical tools for everyday life. My goal as a therapist is to create a space where you can exhale, a place where you don’t have to hold everything together. Healing begins with compassion and connection, and real change happens when we feel understood without judgment. I don’t see my clients as diagnoses or problems to be fixed, but as whole people with complex stories.
