Therapists for college students near New York University
Traci Cecconello (Sol Health)
“The world is your oyster.” That was what my mom said as we held each other’s hands before I drove off to start my college life. Along with independence came feelings of insecurity that weighed down my motivation. But, with support, I found my way. We all need support sometimes. I’m glad you’re here to explore the benefits that clinical therapy might offer you. My name is Traci, and I am a second-year master of science student at the Columbia University School of Social Work in New York, specializing in Advanced Clinical Therapy. My eclectic professional and personal experiences will likely come in handy as you and I partner to do our best to move you closer to the peace, purpose, and fulfillment you deserve. I look forward to providing the space where you can feel safe. Traci Cecconello is a Therapist-in-training at Sol Health. Sol Health is a digital health startup that offers $30 therapy to Gen Zs by connecting them with the therapists-in-training accruing clinical hours.

Counseling is a brave space for clients to explore their experience, rewrite their narratives, and build stronger relationships. I also believe in a holistic approach to therapy to ensure all aspects of a person’s life are considered. Through my own mental health journey, I have learned the significance of collaborating with mind, body, and spirit. As a Black woman, I understand the need to provide mental health services to Black and minority communities, and to help eliminate negative stigmas about mental health for people of color. I am a sex-positive individual, who encourages identities outside of heteronormativity. I aim to help clients embark on their own wellness journeys and to cultivate a quality of life that reflects their personal values, cultures, and beliefs. I will use elements of DBT, Somatic, AEDP, Narrative Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing modalities to individualize treatment for each client’s specific needs and goals. I strive for a therapeutic relationship that can be the foundation for continual healing and growth, where learning takes the forefront and challenging discussions are encouraged. I am passionate and open to hearing my client's individual stories with fresh eyes, allowing them to connect and share their authentic selves in a non-judgmental environment.
Betsy Nordlander, LCSW
I am a New York State licensed Psychotherapist experienced in working with a broad range of issues including depression, anxiety, loss and grief, LGBTQIA+ issues, family and relationship struggles, identity, complex life transitions, and trauma ranging from the personal to systemic. I am a graduate of Hunter College’s Silberman School of Social Work and completed training in working with Couples and Families through the Ackerman Institute for the Family and advanced post graduate training in Relational Therapy at the Stephen A. Mitchell Center for Relational Studies. I bring warmth, deep listening, honesty, cultural sensitivity and humility, and a spirit of collaboration, authenticity, and humor to my therapeutic work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I have worked extensively with adolescents and emergent adults and understand that these junctures typically involve a great deal of growth and change. This can in turn be exciting and wonderful, and also sometimes disorienting and overwhelming. I approach therapy as a collaborative exploration of an individual's lived experiences, the meanings they make out of these experiences, and the relationships they cultivate with self and others in the context of these experiences and meaning-making. In therapy together we slow these conscious and lesser conscious processes down to better understand what might be happening, where people may be stuck in self-limiting narratives or patterns, where resilience, joy, and strength can be recognized, and where growth and change are possible.

Do you find yourself stuck in the same unhealthy cycles despite your efforts to change? I can help. As an active and empathic therapist with fifteen years of experience, I believe in getting to the root of someone's difficulties. Together we will identify your feelings and patterns of behavior, understand the life events that impact your current experience, and enhance your inner resources for achieving your goals. I work with individuals, couples, and families who are experiencing anxiety, depression, interpersonal problems, and major life transitions. I draw from my psychodynamic training at NYU, postgraduate psychoanalytic certification, and the use of evidence-based interventions (including cognitive behavioral therapy) aimed at relieving distress, increasing coping tools, and improving your quality of life. Finding a good fit is essential when working with any therapist. By the time people reach out to me, they often feel overwhelmed, stuck, and unable to move forward. Do you struggle with anxiety and fear, constantly on edge, and unable to relax? Do you feel isolated and alone in your experience? Are your relationships suffering, leaving you feeling guilty and ashamed, unsure of how to cope? Are you experiencing uncontrollable nightmares and flashbacks? Many people facing these symptoms of trauma feel hopeless, saying, "I feel like I'm losing myself and need help finding my way back. I'm afraid to talk about it, but I know I need to." Therapy with me begins exactly where you are. I will be your guide, offering support and virtually holding your hand throughout your healing journey. Together, we will: Improve your understanding of trauma and its impact on your thoughts and feelings. Reduce avoidance behaviors and difficulties in experiencing positive emotions. Alleviate distress related to traumatic memories. Decrease feelings of anxiety, anger, guilt, and shame. Enhance your day-to-day living, and improve your relationship with yourself and others. By the end of therapy with me, you'll find relief from past pain, feel calmer and happier, and see improvements in your daily life and relationships. Feeling safe in a therapeutic setting is paramount. As survivors, it’s natural to want to get to know the specialist you’re working with before sharing difficult feelings and your story. I invite you to book a consultation to see if we are the right fit. Let’s embark on this journey together towards healing and transformation.

Hi! my name is Kevin! thank you for taking a moment to view my profile! I believe that therapy provides an opportunity to talk about tough subjects without judgment, and the more we talk about them, the less stigmatized they can make us feel while opening possibilities for greater connection. I aim to aid each of my patients in discovering safety and trust within our therapeutic relationship to improve their quality of life and the lives of those around them. I have a strong desire to know the person (or people) in front of me as ‘people’ rather than a set of symptoms or diagnostic criteria. Beyond merely considering the symptoms patients are experiencing, I look at the interconnectedness of the systems that may influence what’s bringing them into therapy, including work, school, religious institutions, economic status, family, relationships, and more.

I believe psychotherapy is a project between two people where sources of emotional pain and anguish are discovered and revisited, where what has been denied, unimagined, forgotten, or come to be unspeakable can become imagined, felt and spoken. The process generates an understanding of ourselves that is vastly more dynamic than what our relationships, politics and culture allow, leading to the easing of suffering and the creation of new possibilities. The therapy I provide is open, an invitation. There is a freedom to it that takes courage and tolerance. It can involve a deconstructive or constructive momentum where you may not necessarily be told what to say or how to feel. It is an invitation to notice what comes to mind and what does not. What can emerge in a therapy is dynamic. It can surprise, frustrate, thrill and provoke. These experiences are worked through together. As you bring yourself as fully as possible to what confuses or afflicts, I will help guide you with my understanding of the mind toward a life of growth and healing.
