ANGER gets a bad reputation, and so sometimes we miss its purpose. Its purpose? To alert us to IMPORTANT NEEDS GOING UNMET! Problem is, when we’re angry we’re thinking in ways that get in the way of meeting those needs. I help people connect with the needs behind their anger, learn the words for talking about it in ways that increase the chances of being heard and respected, and find creative solutions. I help people identify the thoughts that cause their anger, and then I help them question those thoughts to discover their own insights and opportunities. By the way, people who learn these skills gain the option to apply them on their own without a therapist. In relationships, most people want the win-win -- as long as it really is a win-win and not more compromise! I enjoy helping people find mutually beneficial solutions. A word on inclusion: In my life I’ve been around the block and through the wringer, more than once. I’m not qualified to look down on anybody! I love my country and I’m friendly to people of all political persuasions, including yours. I invite you to call. I would like to hear what is important to you. Let’s talk about how we can work together to bring peace and understanding into your relationships and your inner world.
Allison Rayburn
I work with college students who are tired of overthinking everything, worrying they did something wrong, and feeling misunderstood—even when they're trying really hard to get it right. Maybe there was a lot of stress growing up. Someone you love may have had a hard childhood of their own, struggled with addiction or mental health, or there was simply a lot going on. You may have learned to notice what other people needed, keep the peace, or grow up pretty quickly. And somehow, you can be incredibly capable while still feeling like you have no idea what you're doing. Being away at college can give you enough distance to start seeing things differently. At the same time, there's that voice saying, "It wasn't that bad." "Other people had it worse." "Maybe I'm overreacting." You can understand why things were the way they were, care deeply about the people in your life, and still wonder whether some of it affected you more than you've let yourself believe. You may want something different without blaming anyone, being ungrateful, or feeling like you're betraying the people you love. In therapy, we don't have to decide whether it was "bad enough." We get curious about how things came to make sense—what you learned, what you needed, what may have been missing, and how it shows up now. We use different questions and approaches so you have more ways to understand yourself and more choices about what comes next. Therapy with me is meant to feel natural. You can start with "I don't know," jump around, use humor, or have no idea where to begin. You can understand where you came from, care about the people who got you here, and still want something different for yourself.

Robert Risavi, LCSW
Hello, my name is Bob Risavi and I am a licensed clinical social worker. I work with adults from 21 to 100. I try to help them cope with and solve problems within their everyday lives. To do this I use several styles of therapy depending on the individual and their particular needs. There is no such thing as a one size fits all strategy. For example CBT therapy is very effective with many patients but psychodynamic therapy may be more effective for other individuals depending on circumstance. The bottom line is, I shape the therapy sessions with you to yield your desired result the best way possible. I believe the key to successful therapy is based on the trust and relationship built between therapist and client. I listen to you and will be a champion of your goals and efforts. Together we will design a path through the issues or crisis you face. You are never alone in this process. I return calls promptly. Being older I can relate to medicare clients due to life experience and clinical experience. I don't pretend to have all the answers, but with my skills, education and 20 years of experience I will help you utilize your strengths to face your challenges.
