Dr. Goali Saedi Bocci
Having trained at the University of Notre Dame (Ph.D., M.A.), UC Berkeley (APA-accredited internship) and Stanford (post-doctoral fellowship), I bring rigorous scientific expertise into my clinical work with college students. In fact, I worked at the University Counseling Centers at all three of these schools and have continued to develop a specialized private practice that focuses almost exclusively on college students. I also teach for Pepperdine University in their Graduate School of Education & Psychology. I help clients with a range of concerns including: anxiety, depression, career and academic concerns, ADHD, relationship concerns (situationships, am I right? :) ), body image and eating disorders, perfectionism, college/life transitions, as well as family of origin challenges (let's say it together, boundaries...). I often work with high-achieving students who often are managing academically but struggling internally. My clients often put others first and themselves last. By the time they come to therapy, concerns have been going on for some time and they've reached a breaking point. They may feel they "should" be able to handle things on their own. As a recovering perfectionist and someone who was riddled with anxiety throughout college, I get it. It wasn't until my own training in CBT that I learned how destructive such thought patterns were. It inspired my clinical approach, as well as three clinical workbooks I've published on Solution-Focused Therapy, CBT, and Positive Psychology with the top mental health publishers. Many of my clients who have been to therapy before often remark how "easy" I make the process. We laugh, we learn, and talk like old friends. Therapy doesn't have to be stuffy or stressful. It's about feeling respected, validated and heard. Learning to take care of yourself, set appropriate boundaries, and thrive! I'd LOVE to work with you! Please feel free to book a complimentary 15 minute consultation at my website below so we can connect!

As a first-generation Latina, I know the experience of first gen and I understand how big a role culture plays in our interactions, relationships, and even how we view ourselves. I also understand the anxiety of being first gen, POC and struggling to find your voice. I want to help you find that voice. I have extensive experience working with anxiety in adults and adolescents. I also have experience and training with working with individuals who work in ministry and live more faith-based lives. There are genuine barriers and systems we all face every day along with the stigma our communities may place on us. You will find a safe and open space here. I try to approach everyone in a way where I am meeting them where they are at, creating a safe space, and being honest and realistic about the barriers you may be facing and how you can start to overcome them. I have been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Socio-Emotional Relationship Therapy (SERT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Relationship Therapy, and Experiential Therapy (Satir). I am currently being trained in Trauma Therapy. Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions! I'm a therapist with Octave and Evernorth Behavioral Care Group. I find it an honor to be let into people’s lives to support them in ways that they may not have the opportunity or ability at the moment. It is a meaningful and rewarding experience to be able to help others as others have been there for me. I try to create an open and inviting atmosphere to be yourself where you will be met with active listening and honest conversation while you freely express yourself. I am a transparent person and will consistently show up with the same energy and integrated approach combined with the use of life experience, humor, and education to help build a custom self care plan to thrive in.

I work especially well with ambitious women and students who are used to being the “high-functioning” one: the person others rely on, who keeps achieving even when they feel overwhelmed inside. I’m particularly passionate about supporting women in STEM, medicine, law, and other male-dominated fields, where the pressure to prove yourself can make it hard to slow down or ask for support. Over the past decade, I’ve helped clients navigate anxiety, perfectionism, burnout, and the feeling that they always need to do more. You might be dealing with overthinking, people-pleasing, self-criticism, or the sense that you’re falling behind despite everything you’ve accomplished. Students also come to me with relationship stress, family expectations, identity questions, and uncertainty about what comes next. I bring a feminist lens to therapy, which means we can look at both your personal patterns and the expectations placed on you. My style is warm, grounded, and collaborative, with enough challenge to help you make meaningful changes. Together, we’ll make space to understand what you need and build a life that supports your well-being alongside your ambition.

The students I work best with are often juggling the pressures of college while trying to manage their mental health. You may be feeling overwhelmed by coursework, struggling with anxiety or depression, adjusting to a new environment, dealing with relationship or family stress, or questioning your confidence and direction. Sometimes it feels like everyone else has it figured out while you’re just trying to get through the day. My goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can be yourself. Together, we’ll explore what’s contributing to your stress, build practical coping skills, improve communication, and strengthen your confidence so you can navigate challenges both in and outside the classroom. I believe therapy should feel collaborative, empowering, and tailored to your unique experiences. Whether you’re facing a specific challenge or simply want to better understand yourself, you don’t have to do it alone. I’m here to help you build resilience, create meaningful change, and move toward the life you want.

Client's that work well with my collaborative style are often people who are struggling with life transitions. I often connect with people who are working to find different methods to manage anxiety and perfectionism. I also hold space in my practice for queer couples.
